A Midsummer Night’s Dream VR – World’s first 360 degree greenscreen video

As part of development work for the immersive media company ‘Immersiv.ly‘, we wanted to explore whether it would be possible to capture 360 degree video in one location and superimpose a location onto the footage at a later date. As far as I am aware, this was the attempt of this technique at the time.

Each scene was shot 3 times from different locations within the space. This allowed users to view the scene from a choice of 3 separate locations, each providing a different perspective.

Having been shot and stitched, the videos had the greenscreen ‘keyed out’ and rotoscoped by the production company ‘Amplified Robot’.

This allowed us to capture the actors in one location and superimpose them onto another background, captured separately, hundreds of miles away.
